Before the trip

Budget for this trip is RM2500 per person. We already blow almost 40% of the budget for flight ticket. As usual, we fly with AirAsia and since we don’t purchase it during sales and we handpicked the date, so the flight ticket is quite expensive. We don’t take the AirAsia travel insurance, so we search for separate travel insurance package that suit our needs.
The trip to Jiuzhai Valley cost us 25% from the budget, include the return transport, entrance fee etc. The entrance fee is very expensive.
The accommodation cost us 10% from the budget. For the first two nights we will stay at Chengdu Flipflop Lounge Hostel, then at Jiuxing Hotel, Jiuzhaigou for 3 nights and back to Chengdu, we will stay at Chengdu Mix Hostel 1 night.
The transportation in Chengdu is 6% and 4% for entrance fee in Chengdu.
Balance 15% is allocated for foods, souvenir or any contingency.
I will update the actual cost for the trip.
After the trip
Update on 13Sep2016
I’m back! I’m still in holiday mood. Let’s update the actual spending in Chengdu & Jiuzhaigou before I forgot.
Most of the proposed budget reflected the actual spending, except for Jiuzhaigou and miscellaneous.
For Jiuzhaigou, we have changed of plan at the last minute. The plan was to spend one day in Jiuzhaigou National Park and one day in Huanglong Scenic Area. But after 10 hour of bus trip, I have motion sickness which quite bad plus with altitude sickness (self diagnose). So, after discussed with travel partner, L, we decided to spend two days in Jiuzhaigou National Park. Although, we have to spend more money because Jiuzhaigou required CNY310 and Huanglong only CNY280 but we save money on transportation from Jiuzhaigou to Huanglong (return trip).
For miscellaneous, we allocated money for visa, travel insurance, foods and souvenir.
Oh Yeah! We have some extra money. Lucky I only convert enough money to Yuan. So only need to convert back small amount of money back to Ringgit.
One thing I want to change in the future is to include all the spending in Malaysia prior to travel. Means, thing like foods that we bought in M’sia, medicine etc.
All in all, it is a good trip and I am really enjoying the time spent in Chengdu and Jiuzhaigou. I’m still in the process of sorting photos and hopefully I can update the travel stories as soon as possible.
